The campaign focuses on implementing permanent Citizens' Assemblies at both state and national levels, aiming to demonstrate how lottery-selected citizen bodies can break through partisan gridlock and restore trust in democratic institutions. It seeks to create a replicable model for democratic reform that can spread nationwide.

Key objectives of the Assemble America campaign

  1. Democratic Innovation: Establishing permanent, lottery-selected Citizens' Assemblies that give everyday Americans a direct voice in shaping public decisions.

  2. State-Level Change: Launching campaigns in key states to create permanent Citizens' Assemblies through legislation and ballot initiatives.

  3. National Impact: Working toward a National Citizens' Assembly to address complex political issues and constitutional renewal.

  4. Movement Building: Creating a broad coalition of allied organizations and engaged citizens to support deliberative democracy.

The campaign combines grassroots organizing, public education, and strategic advocacy to demonstrate how Citizens' Assemblies can enhance democratic decision-making. By bringing together diverse Americans to deliberate on critical issues, this initiative offers a proven path to overcome polarization and restore faith in democratic governance.

This effort aligns with America's tradition of democratic evolution while providing innovative solutions to 21st-century challenges. It represents a historic opportunity to upgrade our democracy by institutionalizing citizen participation in a meaningful and sustained way.
